Carmel was born in the Netherlands and raised in Israel. In 2014, she graduated with honors from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.

Carmel primarily illustrates children's books and works as a background and visual development artist on animation productions. Her clients include A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Random House and Roaring Brook Press, part of Macmillan Publishers.

Since 2015, Carmel has lived among the canals of Amsterdam with her husband and two daughters.
